Iraqi-canadian musician Narcy returns with a new video off his sophomore release World War Free Now! with the Baghdad banger Makoo.

Produced by his musical co-hort Sandhill, the track samples the late Iraqi folk singer Suad Abdullah’s song of the same name with a twist of 90s British Jungle (in true colonial fashion!). “Makoo”, which in this context roughly translates to “Ain’t Nobody Better” in the Iraqi dialect, is a celebration of Narcy’s mother culture as well as a comedic take on current narratives around Arabs, displacement and the culture clash between East and West. Fresh off the plane from Iraq, Jassem (played by Narcy) is visiting North America for the first time. His cousin Ali is reluctant to sharing his world with his awkward yet confident relative.
Directed by Narcy’s sister Hala Alsalman, Makoo is about how you shouldn’t judge a man by his mustache! Everybody Loves Jassem. Ain’t Nobody Better!
