At its 10th edition, Middle East Now dedicates a focus to the Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, one of the most accalimed authors of contemporary cinema, already protagonist at the festival during the first edition in 2010. Winner of the Silver Bear at the Berlinale in 2009 as Best Director for the film “About Elly”, in 2012 with “A Separation” – the most successful film by the Iranian director – he won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film, the Golden Globe, the Golden Bear, the David di Donatello, the British Independent Film Award and many other recognitions. The year 2017 gives to the director another Academy Award for Best Foreign film with “The Salesman”.
Farhadi will be in Florence for a showcase of the films that made him famous and a Master Class open to the public. The renowned Iranian actor Babak Karimi, one of the Farhadi’s favourite actor, will also be protagonist in Florence on this occasion.
