NÖL is a fashion collective born in the heart of Palestine. Started as a local initiative, it is more than just a fashion brand: it sits at the intersection of feminism, Palestinian culture, ethical fashion and social justice. Looking at fashion as a medium to tell stories, NÖL (نول) – which means “loom” in Arabic – works with family-run sewing workshops, artisan studios and women’s cooperatives in the West Bank and Gaza that continue the traditional Palestinian techniques of weaving, embroidery and tailoring from generation to generation. Clothes and accessories are co-created with this creative network, supporting and celebrating local production, talent and craftsmanship that survives despite the will to erase them.
The festival presents NÖL Collective with a special Tote Bag designed for Middle East Now, which can be purchased to support the project, and an installation at the Cinema La Compagnia presenting the project and its identity, curated by Archivio Personale.
The promotional image of this festival edition is also by NÖL Collective.
