Palestinian director ANNEMARIE JACIR, special guest of the Festival

A focus on the Palestinian director ANNEMARIE JACIR, one of the most acclaimed and talented voices of contemporary Arab cinema.

A focus will be dedicated to the Palestinian director Annemarie Jacir, one of the pioneers of contemporary Arab cinema, who has written, directed and produced over 16 films. Among these: “Like Twenty Impossibles” (2003), the first Palestinian short film selected at Cannes Film festival; “Salt of this Sea” (2008), the first feature film directed by a Palestinian director, chosen for the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival; “When I Saw You” (2012) winner of the NETPAC prize at the Berlin International Film Festival and nominated for the Oscar in 2013. A selection of her most famous works will be presented, besides a preview of her latest film “Wajib” (2017) which premiered at Locarno film festival, it won awards at the best international festivals, and was nominated for the 2018 Oscars. The film twill also be theatrically distributed in Italy in April 2018, after its Italian premiere at Middle East Now.
