The farming couple\u2019s faith in nature begins to be tested by the emerging dreams of their children and the test deepens as the harvest of this year is harder than usual. <br \/><br \/><strong>She Was Not Alone by Hussein al-Assadi <\/strong><br \/><strong>(WIP, Iraq, 10\u2019, 2023) <\/strong><br \/>Fatima is a nomadic woman living alone, with her beloved animals in the Iraqi marshes. But as the climate changes create harsh obstacles, Fatima may be forced to move to the city, and lose her most cherished possessions, her independence and her animals. <br \/><br \/><strong>Red Ink by Redha Menassel <\/strong><br \/><strong>(WIP, Algeria, 10\u2019, 2023) <\/strong><br \/>The story of the fabulous epic of El Manchar (The Saw), the first satirical newspaper of the Arab world of the 90s in Algiers. Between learning about freedom of expression and a fierce fight against Islamist terrorism, these heroic cartoonists and journalists left their mark on Algerian society in indelible red ink. This story, 30 years later, takes humor as a weapon of resistance that flourished during the \u201cHirak\u201d, but also echoes with the freedom of press which is once again heavily oppressed in Algeria. <br \/><strong><br \/>Life in the Shadows by Ylias Yourish <\/strong><br \/><strong>(WIP, Afghanistan, 10\u2019, 2023) <\/strong><br \/>Nawal is the eccentric and motherly owner of Depot- Vente, a flourishing vintage shop in a collapsing Beirut. For the Lebanese youth in need of an escape, playing dress-up in Depot-Vente has become a game of survival.
